Arthur Rackham - 'Pandora'

Contining on the vein of flying creatures and Fairy Tales ... another of the great illustrators of this time.

A bit of monster and balloon love for fun Friday.

This whimsical creation is by a Columbian illistrator by the name of: Miguel Angel Avila Lombana.

Boy chickenpox

So pop on over to Miguels Flickr account and take a look at some of the other work, it is a real treat.
And, very apt for Fun Friday I think!

Thursdays are my favourite: 'Faery bait'

Thursdays are my favourite day, (I am sure I have mentioned this before); One day left of the working week and a whole weekend to look forward to.

So keeping with the theme here is one of my favourite photos to share: I call it Faery Bait.

Water Balloons ... in place of Hot Air Balloons

Well today I was very very bad .. I bought myself a little treat.
A print of the following image, by Martin Obakke

This was from the Filgree gallery shop.

The Filigree is actually a newspaper
created by the husband and wife team Celena Caval and Martin Obakka.
Some people really do live remarkable lives.
Their outfits are just so apt too.

So, head along to their
site and have squiz.
I am sure it will be worth your while.

A world library at my own desk.

Where have I been?

So I was browsing as I do ... and I found that, not surprisingly, the British Library is 'on the ball'. There are so many accessible documents for ones own perusal and many, many images ... I think I have died and gone to heaven. A world library at my own desk.

And, keeping on my theme of Hot Air Balloons this week ...
Here are a few little gems, straight from the British Library online archive:

England's first hot air balloon on display, 1784, C103k.11

Fun Friday - Posing with a Diver

I'd imagine that posing in ones 'Sunday best' along side a man in his scuba gear just wouldn't be the same nowdays (too many gaudy colours perhaps?)

Either way, this made me smile.
Hope you enjoyed it too.

Album Covers

jacob-escobedo

A 'Broken Bells' spread

It is 'pen-and-ink'.
It is design.
The colours are perfect.
It draws you in.
I love circles and triangles ... (and here they are together).
It  is simple, yet dirty.
Scientific (or not).

I love album artwork ... I need to find more.

Drifting

This last weekend was jam packed with 'flights of fancy'
... I knew it would be a good weekend for photography and although I struggled to get this air balloon because I was attempting my usual car 'drive-by-shooting' ... the first image I took ... although a bit abstract, I loved.
So I share this with you today:

Soul food: Tracy Chapman

Every now and again you find an artist that gives you goose-bumps and makes your hair stand on end.
You listen to their music and if you happen to be in the right mood thier sound injects and infuses itself right to your soul.
This happens to me, mainly in summer and usually on a Friday.
It just happened ... now ...Tracy Chapman. Wow.
This makes me feel alive ... a little soul food to keep me inspired for the weekend.

I hope you play your magic man or woman this weekend too ... and know and enjoy what it feels like to be alive.

What is your soul food?
